Government Arts and Science College Chelakkara established in 2013 is one of the new colleges under the Department of Collegeate Education ,Kerala.This college comes under the University of Calicut.It is situated in Killimangalam adjacent to Government U.P.School,Killimangalam in Panjal Gramapanchayath.It was allotted to the Chelakkara constituency.Initially three under graduate courses were started in the College.They are BCom Degree Course,B.A Degree Courses in Economics and English.
In the beginning the College was functioning in the space provided by the Grameenavayanasala,Government U.P.School, Killimangalam and the Primary Health Centre,Panjal.Under the leadership of Sri K.Radhakrishnan,the Hon Speaker of Kerala Legislative Assembly and the M.L.A of Chelakkara Constituency the public and wellwishers of the College managed to own 5 acres of land for the College. From the MLA’s Fund from Sri K Radhakrishnan two temporary buildings were built.With the financial assistance of 50 lakhs from the Director Collegiate Education a concrete road and arch bearing the name of the college were built.By the MLA fund of rupees2 crores from Sri K Radhakrishnan the construction of a new building was started and with the continuous support of 74lakhs from the present MLA Sri U.R.Pradeep it was completed and inaugurated by the Hon Minister for Higher Education Dr K.T.Jaleel on 21.10.2019.
