FORUM FOR DEMOCRACY AND SOCIAL JUSTICE (FDSJ)
ANNUAL REPORT 2025
Forum for Democracy and Social Justice is a unique initiative in colleges and schools for
providing a platform for analysing the challenges of democracy and social justice and to
evoke various innovative practices and ideas for more participatory and inclusive structures
of the same from the part of youth . It is a Forum which is working under the Institute of
Parliamentary Affairs, Kerala Government.
FDSJ of Chelakkara Government Arts and Science college in the academic year 2024-25
was constituted after the commencement of First year UG and PG. The HOD of Department
of Economics, Bisha V K, continued as the coordinator. Eldhos Jacob, Second year BA English
student was selected as the student coordinator during this period.

The Forum for Democracy and Social Justice organised various programmes in association
with Constitution Day and Human Rights day.
The following are the programmes organised by College FDSJ during 2024-25
1.Constitution Preamble reading
College FDSJ in association with NSS Unit Organised Constitution day celebration on
26/11/ 24 Monday. Preamble reading was the first programme conducted on constitution
day. At 10.30 am , Preamble read in all the class rooms. Various class tutors and teachers led
the preamble reading in various class rooms.
2.Constitution Awareness class
An Awareness programme on Indian constitution was also held on this day . The teacher
Coordinator presented an overview of Indian Constitution and the FDSJ Student Coordinator
Kumari Varshitha presented a speech on ‘Our constitution in Contemporary India ’ . The
students of first year PG and NSS Students actively interacted after the presentation.
3. Quiz competition
As the continuation of the speech , a quiz Programme on Indian Constitution was also
conducted. Mr Nishad, Faculty of History and MS Bisha V K, Teacher coordinator , Kumari
Varshitha were handled the quiz programme.
4. Human Rights Day
FDSJ Organized human rights Day on 12 December 2024.A pledge on Human rights was
taken by all teachers and students . The principal and all office staff and some teachers
became the part of the same at Principal’s Chamber at 11 am.
5. A speech on Role of Youth In Indian Democracy
At the end of month of March , an awareness class on ‘Role of Youth in Indian
Democracy’ was also conducted on 28/3/25 at 3 Pm in association with Planning forum of
our college. .Ms Ahalya , Faculty of History provided the class on the same . As the Second
BA UG Students were only available in the college during the period due to the upcoming
exam on April 3 rd for First and final year students, they became the audience of the
programme.
A seminar proposal for this academic year was proceeded in this academic year by the
department of Political Science, but unfortunately it was not came under the list of
sanctioned seminar proposal.
