Principal’s Message
Welcome to Government Arts and Science College, Chelakkara, Thrissur, a center of academic excellence, intellectual exploration, and holistic development. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and dynamic learning environment that nurtures critical thinking, creativity, and research. Our institution provides students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to excel in their academic and professional pursuits.
We offer three undergraduate degree programs: B.A. Economics (60 students), B.A. English (36 students), and B.Com (60 students). These three-year programs collectively accommodate 468 undergraduate students. Additionally, we offer a postgraduate program, M.Com Finance with Cost Management, with an annual intake of 15 students, totaling 30 students over two years. Our institution takes pride in promoting diversity and accessibility, ensuring that students from various reservation categories, including OBC, SC/ST, Ezhava, Tia, Bilava, and others, receive quality education. We also extend special support to PWD (Persons with Disabilities) students and those excelling in sports.
With our first academic block fully operational and the second academic block nearing completion, we are consistently enhancing our infrastructure, learning facilities, and technological resources to provide an enriching academic experience. At our institution, education extends beyond textbooks, embracing a wide spectrum of voices, ideas, and perspectives. We emphasize the development of analytical, critical, and creative skills through interactive classes, workshops, and seminars, ensuring that students gain proficiency in reading, writing, research, and practical applications in their respective fields.
To maintain academic excellence, we focus on curriculum development, teaching innovations, research, and student engagement. We regularly update our courses, integrate digital learning tools, and promote an interdisciplinary approach to broaden students’ knowledge and skill sets. Our faculty undergo continuous professional development, ensuring modern teaching methodologies, while students benefit from mentorship programs, collaborative projects, and research opportunities. We also facilitate internships, fellowships, and career counseling programs, equipping students for industry exposure and future career success.
Beyond academics, we actively encourage community engagement and cultural development. Our students participate in public lectures, literary festivals, knowledge-sharing programs, and collaborations with schools and NGOs. Events such as annual festivals, conferences, and interactive discussions provide a platform for students to showcase their talents and contribute to society.
